Companionship & domestic help
Sometimes what helps most is a friendly face and a hand with everyday jobs. Our companions bring good company into your week, whether that’s a chat and a cup of tea, reading together, reminiscing, or help with the shopping, errands and chores around the home.

Who companionship & domestic help is for
People who live alone or feel lonely, anyone who would like a helping hand around the house, and families who live far away and want peace of mind.
- Older people who live alone and would enjoy regular company
- Anyone who finds shopping, cleaning or errands tiring
- People who would like company at appointments or social groups
- Families who live far away and want someone to check in
What support is provided
- Conversation, reading, reminiscing and hobbies
- Help with shopping, errands and chores around the home
- Light housework, laundry and changing beds
- Medication reminders
- Company at appointments, social groups and outings
- Help keeping in touch with family and friends
We match companions on personality and interests, so visits feel like time with a friend. Many people start with companionship and add personal care later, with the same familiar faces.
How companionship & domestic help begins
- Tell us what would help: Call or send the form. Let us know what you enjoy and which jobs you would like a hand with.
- Free home assessment: We visit to get to know you, agree what each visit includes and choose days and times that suit you.
- Meet your companion: We introduce your companion before the first visit, matched on personality and interests.
- Visits begin and are reviewed: We check in regularly and can change visits, or add personal care, as needs change.

Questions about companionship & domestic help
Can a companion come to appointments with me?
Yes. Companions can come with you to appointments, social groups and outings, and help with shopping and errands on the way.
Can companionship visits include personal care later?
Yes. If needs change we can add personal care through our home care visits, ideally with the same carers you already know.
Other services you might combine with this
Companionship can be combined with home care visits for personal care, and is a gentle introduction to support for people living with dementia. It can also give family carers a short break, as part of respite care.
